CMDB Population as a Service
"Only 25% of organizations are receiving meaningful value from their CMDB investment"
— Break the CMDB Failure Cycle - Gartner 2019
Why is this staggering quote true?
A CMDB is only valuable if it is complete, accurate and you can trust it. Without anyone of these components teams distrust it and stop relying on it.
Complete CMDB visibility, using your existing data, is just a click away.
Cookdown CMDB Populator uses the data you already have in existing systems around your IT estate, to populate your ServiceNow CMDB, getting you to complete coverage in a fraction of the time.
This is why we do things differently!
Here at Cookdown, we integrate rather than discover - we don't "discover" data so there are no network crawlers or port scanners in our solution, we integrate CIs from existing systems. This is a much quicker way to add breadth and depth.
The Cookdown CMDB populator is Azure backed SaaS, with modern SaaS billing. We only install things on-prem, when the source systems have no native API.
Default maps mean you can sign up and get populating without the need to know source data structure and CMDB class requirements.
All default maps allow for customizations, so if you have customized your CMDB you can customize the integration to match. You can also create mappings from scratch, allowing you to support any type of data you want to use to populate your CMDB.
Using the data you already have is the quickest route to success
Each specialist tool is the best repository of the info it manages - they are likely to be owned by a team of specialists, who are already using the data these tools provide, so it's important to maintain them and curate the data in them:
Operations Manager has been trusted for years for Microsoft Infrastructure monitoring - it contains everything on SQL databases, IIS websites, Windows Servers, and more.
SolarWinds is the best network monitoring tool and considered the source of truth by the Networking Team.
Azure Resource Manager (and the Azure ecosystem) is seen as the future and is integrated into cloud migration projects by your Infrastructure Team - it contains all the VMs and serverless apps your company will rely on for the next wave of growth.
